Julie Coker, LCSW
(she/her)
Mental health is important to me because I want to create a world where everyone is comfortable discussing it. I do not want people to be ashamed or be shamed for asking for help. I want to continue working and advocating for mental health resources and care to be equally accessible for all people.
Where I Started
My career in mental health started in high school when I began volunteering. I knew then that I was interested in social work. I met my mentor in college (Stockton University), and he helped me shape what I wanted my career to look like. I then earned my MSW at Monmouth University.
Where I Am Now
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in NJ. I worked in inpatient mental health for 3 years. I currently work in a hospital outpatient office, particularly with patients who live with HIV and receive services through Ryan White. I look forward to working in an emergency room, or a wellness setting. I will be HeartMath certified to improve my client’s emotional well-being.
Where I'm Going
I hope to have my NJ social work supervisor license soon.
