Program Overview: Team Up AmeriCorps places AmeriCorps members at organizations throughout Southwest Colorado. While these members serve as part of a regional cohort and participate in regional cohort trainings and activities, they spend the majority of their term serving directly at a specific host site organization. Through collaborative service, Team Up AmeriCorps members develop their own professional skills and passions, expand effectiveness of southwest Colorado organizations, and ultimately support people to thrive. Team Up has been utilizing collective impact initiatives since 2015 to collaborate across sectors and promote communication towards common goals within rural Southwest Colorado communities.

Team Up’s Community Collaboration Program brings together individuals and organizations across the southwest region to address deeply seeded issues and emerging opportunities through a data driven and informed Collective Impact Framework. Over 60 entities across Southwest Colorado have stepped up to work together to create a thriving community for children, youth, and families. Team Up partners participate in Action Teams, meeting on a regular basis to collaborate on specific topic areas that have been identified and are driven by the community. Additionally, each county has a Steering Committee that helps steer the overall direction of Team Up’s collaborative work.

Team Up is the backbone (a team dedicated to aligning & coordinating the work of the group) to support these collaborative efforts. Backbone efforts include but are not limited to:
Cultivate community engagement and ownership
Inclusively and authentically engage. Ask “who isn’t here?”
Promote collective ownership through member agency and decision making
Mobilizing resources
Fundraising and grant writing
Recruit and include key stakeholders
Coordination
Meeting scheduling, agenda preparation, reminders, accountability
Support aligned partner activities
Build relationships among members
Guiding vision and strategy
Create focus around collaborative priorities and goals
Action and strategic planning (and keeping teams on track)
Measurement
Establish shared measurement
Data collection

Through these continuous backbone efforts, Action Teams are able to consistently meet and move projects forward in a constructive way. Action Team members are the drivers of strategy, action, and decisions that will ultimately impact the wellbeing of the population in which they are aiming to serve.

Service Position Summary: The Team Up AmeriCorps Community Collaboration Mobilizer fills an important role in helping move action forward within Team Up Action Teams primarily in Montezuma County. Currently, Action Team members in Montezuma and Dolores Counties share the responsibility of implementation and coordination of projects which can make change and progress slow. A main role of the Mobilizer is to support each Action Team in implementation and coordination of their projects, ensuring momentum across each topic area in the community. The Mobilizer will have a unique “birds eye view” of some of the largest challenges facing children, youth, and families in Montezuma County, as well as of the efforts to address them. The Mobilizer will attend each Action Team meeting to stay informed of the issues and related solutions, as well as be a part of the discussions on how to collaboratively address issues at a population level. Under supervision of the Director of Community Collaboration, the Mobilizer will coordinate and mobilize projects and processes within Action Teams. The Mobilizer will serve primarily in Montezuma County but will have occasional opportunities to serve in Dolores, La Plata, and Archuleta Counties.

Duties and Responsibilities: Team Up AmeriCorps members serve directly at their Host Site organization to develop, implement, and enhance programs, projects, and activities through direct and indirect service. Duties include:
Attend Action Team and Steering Committee meetings in Montezuma County, and other counties as appropriate
Document meetings ensuring all information shared and action items assigned are captured. Disperse notes and create reminders for relevant team action items in between meetings to keep project momentum moving forward
Mobilize Action Team projects through implementation and project management. Current Action Teams that the Mobilizer will be engaged with are listed below.
Safe Spaces Action Team
Child Maltreatment Prevention Action Team (CMPAT)
Behavioral Health Action Team (BHAT)
Talk Grow Learn Action Team (TGL) and the Baby Bee Ready program
Action Teams may be added and/or paused as relevant issues emerge.
Lead ongoing coordination and implementation of Action Team projects including, but not limited to:
Parent skill building workshops to support youth mental health
Community Teen Night Safe Spaces project
Gathering parent input and engaging parents and caregivers
Development of a county-wide Child Maltreatment Prevention Plan
Support the Regional Youth Liaison with youth engagement efforts as needed
Research Collective Impact and other relevant initiatives across the state and nation
Support critical backbone efforts including:
Bring necessary updates to Action Teams and Steering Committees
Connect individually with Action Team members and key community leaders to build relationships and connect them with Team Up Action Teams and projects
Collect and organize relevant data across all Action Teams using the Results Based Accountability framework and Action Team data/strategy outlines
Attend local and statewide relevant coalition meetings to bring awareness of statewide initiatives to local Action Teams, and bring awareness of local issues and strategies to the state level. Coalitions may include:

SAFE- Suicide Awareness for Everyone
Colorado Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Coalition
Lead community engagement efforts through attend events as related to Action Team and community collaboration activities
Track host site and AmeriCorps data
Attend Team Up AmeriCorps regional trainings, cohort connection days, and Days of Service

Desired Qualifications:
Ethic of national and community service and a strong desire to create positive change
High School Graduate required (GED accepted,) college graduate or equivalent work experience preferred
Ability to pass criminal history check
Reliable transportation & proof of auto insurance
U.S. Citizenship or lawful permanent resident status required
Effective written and oral communication skills
Strong relationship building skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to pay close attention to detail
Experience working with diverse populations, including rural and underserved communities
Experience working with youth
Demonstrated fluency in and comfort learning multiple types of technology
Ability to work independently to identify and complete required tasks with minimal supervision
Experience in outreach, marketing, or community engagement
Project management experience
Interest in systems level change and working across multiple sectors

Term of Service - Time Commitment: This is a Three Quarter Time national and community service position requiring, at a minimum, a total of 1200 hours during the year (approximately 30 hours/week*.) The position begins October 14, 2025 and ends August 31, 2026. Flexible hours are required, including occasional evening and weekend commitments. Service on the following dates is required:

October 14-15: Team Up AmeriCorps Member Orientation
October 15: Meet n’ Greet with all Members & Site Supervisors
October 16: First Day at Host Site/Host Site Orientation
Jan 19: Dr. MLK Jr. Day Activity
March 31: Cesar Chavez Day of Service
April TBD: Spring Convening of Members & Site Supervisors
2nd Wednesdays, monthly: Cohort Connections
in-person in November, February, April, and June

*Schedule can vary. Flexibility to reduce to 20-25 hours/week is available to the right candidate.

Training and Support Provided: Team Up AmeriCorps members receive significant training and experience in community engagement, project implementation, leadership, diverse populations, and more. Up to 20% of total hours served may be spent in applicable, approved trainings. Members will be supervised and supported by Team Up’s Director of Community Collaboration Emily Huminski (emilyh@teamupsw.org), as well as by Team Up AmeriCorps program staff. The PY 25-26 cohort of Team Up AmeriCorps members serving throughout the region will also act as additional resources and support for each other.
Location and Service Conditions: This position is based at The Team Up office at 215 N Linden Street, Suite D in Cortez, Colorado. Occasional off-site engagement and partnership activities, meetings, etc. will be required.

Benefits:
A living allowance of approx. $769.28/per pay period (twice per month). Taxes are deducted and the living allowance is distributed by direct deposit to the member’s bank account.
An education award of $5,176.50 upon successful completion of term of service.
