The Conversations on Aging (COA) Volunteer position is responsible for providing support to seniors in the community. This is a social engagement program designed for older adults to help them navigate the changes that come with aging, and to support an understanding of relevant cultural and age-related issues. All volunteers must understand, appreciate, and respect the diversity and cultural differences within our Cascadia community.
What does a Conversation on Aging (COA) Volunteer do?
Facilitates group conversations for seniors on specific age -related topics
Facilitates Life Story groups offering seniors an opportunity to tell their story
Facilitates ongoing, non-therapeutic support groups for seniors interested in weekly connections
Training & Support:
COA volunteer orientation
Monthly education and support meetings
Consultation and supervision as needed
Training on various age-related topics of interest
Group facilitation skills
Time Commitment:
Volunteers commit to attending the monthly and quarterly education and support meetings throughout their active volunteering with Cascadia.
Minimum of one-year commitment
Commit to 2.5 – 10 hours per month for a minimum of one year
