CLC is currently seeking an enthusiastic and competent unpaid Social Work Intern to support the day-to-day activities of our Social Work department in our Queens office.
The goals of a CLC internship are to learn the areas of the law in which we practice, gain hands-on experience and provide assistance to CLC staff, but more importantly our clients. After an orientation and training, the intern will be paired with a mentor and will receive close supervision and training.
Social Work Intern duties may include:
Digesting case records (school, medical, COI’s, forensic reports)
Draft client and collateral witness correspondence
Conduct collateral interviews
Observe client interviews with SW
Research potential referral sources (i.e., mental health, education, therapeutic)
Make referrals for clients
Observation of court proceedings, witness interview and conferences
Assist with building CLC city-wide resource manual
A variety of administrative tasks including filing and scheduling interviews
